My Journey
I began writing for my high school newspaper, the YHS Insight, in 2019. Through my four years of high school, I gained crucial experience and learned important skills. In my senior year, I was named Editor-in-Chief.
After graduating from high school, I went on to join my college newspaper, The Southwestern. Despite majoring in Parks and Wildlife Law Enforcement, I maintained a love for writing and journalism. Following two years of experience, I was named Editor-in-Chief in 2025.
After graduating from SWOSU in May of 2026, I am looking forward to attending the University of Montana this fall to pursue a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Journalism.
Core Values + Skills
My approach to journalism has been shaped by the time I have spent outdoors throughout my entire life. Working across public lands taught me the value of observation, and respect for local ecosystems. These are traits that I carry directly into my reporting. As a writer and editor, I strive for accuracy in real-world context. I focus on clear, honest storytelling that connects people to the places and issues that matter.
Furthermore, my skills are extremely diverse. Whether I’m out in the field writing an outdoor feature, writing a sports column, or putting together a movie review, I can do it all. On top of that, I don’t need to hunt down a photographer to back up my work. Although I am not an expert in photography, I can work a camera with ease to capture the visuals to match the story.
